Oral appliances

Indications:

Oral appliances are FDA approved devices for treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and snoring.

A few of the devices are only approved for treatment of snoring and should not be used for treatment of OSA.

They work by either pulling the mandible slightly forward or by splinting and keeping it from falling backward during sleep.

· They work by splinting the mandible or pulling it slightly forward. In turn, the base of tongue will move forward and opens the airway at regroglossal level.

· Treatment of OSA is a medical necessity and is covered by most medical insurance plans.

· Treatment of snoring is not covered by insurances.
